What is Dance Without Walls?  Just like it sounds, dancing outside of the box, beyond the walls of a studio...

We seek youth who are not only interested in dance but in dance making, dance writing and performance. Dance Without Walls is a four week intensive where dance inspired students will keep journals, view performances, attend live rehearsals with professional dance companies, visit farms where we will look at agriculture and dance, zoo visits to observe movement from the animal kingdom, journal keeping where we discourse/discuss dance, social change and ecological consciousness. This program is an exclusive program where only 8-10 selected students will be chosen to participate.

Dance Without Walls will run for 4 weeks: July 16, 2012 - August 10, 2012 9:30am-4:00pm Mon- Fri

Total Program Costs ONLY $750

Culminating Performance August 10, 2012 6pm @ BAAD!                                                                  

Due May 15 (deadline extended to June 1)

The CYPHER @ TU Dance in St. Paul, MN 2/25/12

This past weekend Marjani brought The Cypher to TU Dance in St. Paul, MN and we rocked it!  TU Dance, a non-profit professional dance organization, founded and created by Toni Pierce-Sands and Uri Sands; an incredible duet shaking up the dance world in Minnesota and beyond.  It's a fantastic space, open, positive, re-affirming, and professional. 

With the legwork of performer Alanna Morris, Abdo Sayegh, and Julie Sand, we were able to provide a captivating experience for TU Dance pre-professionals, company members, and visitors varying in age, dance background, even a few who were new TU Dance Open Classes/Workshops!!!  

I've experienced TU Dance to be on of the few but necessary organizations offering a powerful mix of quality and access.  Directly in alignment with our vision for social justice, cultural organizing, and artistic expression here at LOVE|FORTÉ A COLLECTIVE!

Choreographic Investigation Course Now Available

Designed to meet the needs of emerging dancemakers who seek structure and encouragement in their choreographic development. It is a unique vocational-training program, providing creative freedom, community, artistic opportunities, and the chance to study composition, make work, and gain practical career-enhancing knowledge from working artists in the New York dance scene and abroad. The CIC’s goal is to provide affordable practical and artistic training, serving artists wanting a comprehensively structured program culminating in a certificate of completion. The program features :

Message From our Co-Founder Nia Love

As I move through this time  as a hue-man being making dances and thinking of the world through that type of lens, I am constantly reminded that I am a free thinker, full of possibility, able to illuminate my deepest thoughts and aspirations. I am also humbled by the idea that each year I live no matter how much or little I have "succeeded" in my craft, there is always one time or another that reminds me that I am forever evolving forever raising and falling, shifting and converging, yielding and fast-forwarding, balancing and multitasking at every corner at every bend in the road.

 My motherhood and arthood meet and clash, suspend, fed each other and redefine perspectives and truths at the weight of the others reality.... and I am humbled!!!!
My days as a choreographer/teacher are filled with thoughts about power and the maintenance of balance and blissfulness in the face of brute speed. I am trying to overstand how to continue to do my work  even if no one really cares that I do the work

....I am continuously reminded that the work is important not because the media or other people for that fact accept it or not but that I do the work because I need to do it and  as long as I have breath in my body... I will do it and see this battle over!
